Top 5 Doctor Booking Apps in Kenya (2026): Compared

By the HatuaAfya team · Published · 9 min read

The doctor booking apps people use in Kenya in 2026 are Vezeeta, Zuri Health, Medbook (AphiaApp) and Afyabora, plus HatuaAfya, which we build. They are not the same kind of product, so the “best” one depends on whether you are looking for a doctor, running a practice, or running a hospital. This guide compares what each does, what it costs and where it falls short, using each company's own site and press coverage.

Overview of top doctor booking apps in Kenya

The video walks through the same five options as this article: what each app does, what it costs, and who it suits. Read on for the detail, the prices and the sources.

How we compared them

  • We ranked each product by how directly it lets a client book a doctor in Kenya, whether it was verifiably active in 2026, and how clear its offer is.
  • Prices and features come from each company's own website and from press coverage, researched in October 2026.
  • Where a price is not published, we say so instead of guessing.
  • We did not test the other apps as a client or a doctor. This is desk research.

5. Afyabora: online consultation

Afyabora is a Kenyan online consultation platform on web and mobile, with 28 or more specialties. A client describes their symptoms and a doctor then contacts them by phone or email.

What it offers

  • Consultations across general practice, cardiology, dermatology, paediatrics, psychiatry, gynaecology, orthopaedics and more.
  • Prescriptions from the doctor, with medicine delivery through pharmacy partners.
  • M-PESA payments, private health records, push notifications and lab-test coordination.

Price

General practitioner KES 700. Standard specialists (for example dentist, physiotherapist, physician) KES 1,000. Premium specialists (for example cardiologist, dermatologist, gynaecologist, paediatrician) KES 1,600.

Shortcomings

  • It is on-demand consultation, not appointment booking. The site does not describe choosing a doctor and a time slot.
  • The doctor contacts the client “within the shortest time possible”, with no stated response time.
  • Nothing for a doctor to run their own practice: no personal booking page, calendar or client list.

Best for: a client who wants a quick remote opinion and is happy to pay per consultation.

4. Medbook (AphiaApp and AphiaOne): hospital software

Medbook is a Kenyan health-technology company that sells integrated software to facilities. Its patient app, AphiaApp, sits on top of that network. Medbook says it runs 74 active facilities across Kenya and Uganda and holds more than 9.8 million patient records.

What it offers

  • AphiaApp for clients: booking, chat and video consultations, records from participating providers, digital payments, reminders and secure messaging (as Medbook describes it).
  • AphiaOne for hospitals and AphiaOne Lite for clinics: appointments, medical records, billing and reporting.
  • Further modules for pharmacy, laboratories, insurance claims and underwriting.

Price

Not published. The site directs visitors to book a demo or request a quote.

Shortcomings

  • A client can only book with providers on the Medbook network.
  • It is sold to facilities through demos, so there is no obvious self-serve sign-up for a single doctor.
  • It is likely more system than an independent doctor needs. That is our assessment, not Medbook's statement.
  • With no public price, cost cannot be compared before a sales conversation.

Best for: hospitals and larger clinics that want one system for records, pharmacy, lab and claims, not only bookings.

3. Zuri Health: telehealth with booking

Zuri Health is a Nairobi-based telehealth company founded in 2020 and operating in 10 African markets, according to its own site. Booking is one service among many. In April 2026 it expanded its mobile clinic fleet in Nairobi to three buses, as reported by TechCabal.

What it offers

  • Virtual consultations around the clock, including chat on WhatsApp and consultations by SMS.
  • Home visits by doctors, and walk-in consultations at its Nairobi headquarters.
  • Medicine delivery, lab tests and imaging.
  • Mental health, nutrition, physiotherapy, nursing and family planning services.
  • Separate apps for clients and for doctors. Press reports list insurer partners including SHA, Britam and Madison.

Price

  • Health 360 subscription: KES 2,750 every 6 months, with unlimited chats and discounts on medicines and lab tests (Zuri's site).
  • Press reports put consultations from about KES 500, with a typical visit around KES 1,500. Treat these as indicative.

Shortcomings

  • Booking is secondary to Zuri's own care services. The clients are Zuri's clients, not the doctor's.
  • We found no personal booking page for an independent doctor.
  • Pricing for doctors who want to work through Zuri is not published.

Best for: clients who want broad, low-cost primary care and subscription access.

2. Vezeeta Kenya: the doctor booking marketplace

Vezeeta began in the Middle East and North Africa and launched in Kenya in December 2020. It is the most direct doctor-booking competitor we found.

What it offers

  • Search by specialty, hospital, insurance provider and county, then book a clinic or hospital appointment.
  • Bookings confirmed automatically from the doctor's stated working hours.
  • Verified client reviews and doctor ratings.
  • Book free and pay at the clinic. Vezeeta states the listed fees are the doctor's actual fees.
  • More than 30 specialties, six Kenyan regions and more than 40 insurance partners, with apps on the App Store, Google Play and App Gallery.

Price

Free for clients. Fees for doctors and clinics in Kenya are not published. One third-party summary says doctors and clinics pay per confirmed appointment, with subscription plans available; we could not confirm amounts.

Shortcomings

  • It is a directory: clients find doctors through Vezeeta, not through a doctor's own branded page.
  • No deposit or prepayment is described (“pay in the clinic”), so no-show protection looks limited.
  • The Kenya site mentions no telemedicine.
  • We found no visit-note, marketing or multi-clinic personal calendar tools for doctors.

Best for: clients searching for a new doctor by specialty and insurance, and clinics that want to be discovered in a large directory.

1. HatuaAfya: our recommended pick for doctors at several clinics

HatuaAfya is a Kenyan booking platform built for independent doctors who practise at several clinics, and for the clinics themselves. A doctor gets a free personal booking link that works at any hospital, even one that does not use HatuaAfya, and keeps one calendar across all clinics.

What it offers doctors

  • A personal public page and booking link. Clients can book as guests without creating an account.
  • One calendar across every clinic. Only the doctor, or the platform administrator, can change their availability.
  • A client list across all clinics, with visit history and chart notes.
  • AI visit notes: type a few lines of shorthand, get a structured draft, then review, finalise and add addenda.
  • Content Studio for posts and images, with direct posting to Facebook and X (text only).
  • Client reviews, with Google reviews shown alongside once a listing is connected.
  • A revenue page showing money collected by method and by clinic, and visits awaiting payment.

What it offers clinics and hospitals

  • A branded booking page and public clinic page, with departments, services and a directory listing.
  • All doctors managed in one place, with invites and department assignment.
  • Front-desk booking for walk-ins alongside online booking.
  • M-Pesa deposits once the clinic connects its own M-Pesa credentials, plus cash and insurance.
  • Each clinic's data is isolated at the database level, built in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019 (how your data is protected).

Price

  • Scheduling is free for doctors.
  • AI visit-note credits: 20 for KES 1,000, 100 for KES 4,600, 300 for KES 13,500. They do not expire.
  • Clinics and hospitals: from KES 12,000 per year, billed annually. See current pricing.

Shortcomings

  • Automatic WhatsApp and SMS reminders are not live yet; their integration is in progress.
  • It is a new product with no track record, public reviews or user numbers to compare with the others.
  • There is no client marketplace for individual doctors: clients arrive through the doctor's own link.
  • No telemedicine, no hospital management system (records, pharmacy, lab, insurance claims) and no direct posting to Instagram.
  • M-Pesa on a doctor's personal link is not available yet; personal links take cash and insurance.

Best for: independent doctors who work across several clinics, and clinics that want a branded booking front door without a large software project.

What about Calendly, Google Calendar and WhatsApp?

For many Kenyan doctors the real alternative to every app above is a phone, WhatsApp and a free calendar. These tools are good at scheduling and weak at everything around it. We found no usage statistics for private doctors in Kenya, so which tools doctors use is our inference, and the prices below are indicative.

Global scheduling tools compared for use by doctors in Kenya

Cal.com, Acuity, SimplyBook.me, SetmoreFrom free to about $49 per monthFlexible schedulingNo M-Pesa and no clinical features.

None of them supports M-Pesa, none keeps visit history or chart notes, and none treats several clinics as one doctor identity. They also store client names and reasons for visits outside Kenya. The Data Protection Act, 2019 restricts moving personal data out of the country unless safeguards or consent are in place, and health data is sensitive. This is general information, not legal advice: doctors should check their own position.

How to choose a doctor booking app in Kenya

  • You need to find a doctor: start with Vezeeta, which lets you search by specialty, county and insurance.
  • You want low-cost primary care or a remote consultation: look at Zuri Health or Afyabora.
  • You run a hospital and want records, pharmacy and billing in one system: ask Medbook for a demo.
  • You are a doctor at one or several clinics and want clients to book you directly: try a personal booking link. HatuaAfya gives you one free.
  • You run a clinic and want a branded booking page with M-Pesa deposits: talk to us on WhatsApp.

Frequently asked questions

How do I book a doctor appointment online in Kenya?

Use a booking app or a doctor's own booking page. On Vezeeta you search by specialty, county, hospital or insurance, pick a doctor and a time, and pay at the clinic. With HatuaAfya you open the doctor's or clinic's booking link, choose a time and book without creating an account. Telehealth services such as Zuri Health and Afyabora connect you to a doctor remotely instead of booking a slot.

What is the best doctor booking app in Kenya?

It depends on what you need. Vezeeta is the most direct marketplace for finding a doctor by specialty and insurance. Zuri Health suits low-cost primary care and subscriptions. Medbook suits hospitals that want one system for records, pharmacy and billing. HatuaAfya, which we build, is our recommended pick for independent doctors who work at several clinics and want one personal booking link.

Can I pay for a doctor appointment with M-Pesa?

Some services accept M-Pesa: Afyabora takes M-PESA for its online consultations, and HatuaAfya supports M-Pesa deposits for clinics that connect their own M-Pesa credentials. Vezeeta's Kenya site describes booking for free and paying at the clinic. General scheduling tools such as Calendly and Google Calendar do not support M-Pesa.

Is there a free booking link for doctors in Kenya?

Yes. HatuaAfya gives every doctor a free personal booking link that works at any hospital, including hospitals that do not use HatuaAfya. Scheduling is free; only optional AI visit-note credits are paid.

Can Kenyan doctors use Calendly or Google Calendar for bookings?

They can, and many do, but both are built for meetings rather than clinics. They have no M-Pesa, no client records or visit notes, and their paid plans are priced in US dollars. They also store client details outside Kenya, which doctors should check against the Data Protection Act, 2019.
